Our close board fence panels are hand made by us at our workshop in Gravesend. This is so we can ensure that the fencing you buy is of the highest quality and you get it at the best possible price. We only sell wet cast concrete fence posts and concrete gravel boards so you know you will get the best quality concrete. What ever your garden fencing needs are we can help. - What are the different types of fencing?
At G&G we have many different types of fencing, here is a list of what we do:
- Panel Fencing - Panel fencing comes in 6ft wide panels and are best used with slotted concrete posts or 4x4 wood posts.
- Picket Fence - Picket fences are normally used in front gardens and come in a round or pointed top versions.
- Feather Edge Fencing - Feather edge fencing is made at your home or on site. It can me made in a maximum length of 3 meters. This is used if you have a long run but it is not as strong as panel fencing.
What type of posts do I need?With panel fencing there are 3 different types of posts that can be used:- Slotted concrete fence posts (we recommend)
- Solid wood posts
- Durapost
With feather edge fencing there are 3 different posts that can be used:
- Morticed concrete fence posts (we recommend)
- Solid wood posts (brackets will be needed to be used)
- Morticed wood posts
With picket fencing there are 2 types of posts:
Is the fencing treated?Yes, all our fencing and wood is fully pressure treated.
Can fencing be painted?Yes it can! Painting treated fencing wood will not only help you achieve your ideal aesthetic but also gives the wood an additional layer of protection, which is always good.
Most treated timber is still “wet” from the treatment and needs time for the chemicals in the wood to settle and dry. You will notice, the wood is heavy and will still feel damp to the touch. If primer or paint is added to it at this point, there is every likelihood that it will be rejected by the water-based chemicals that are still working their way through the wood.
It is important to allow the timber to dry out fully before attempting to add paint or primer. This can be a lengthy process and may even take up to a few weeks depending on where the wood is stored. If there is too much heat and direct sunlight, this can cause the treated timber to warp instead of dry out. Damp conditions can also prolong the drying-out period.
What is the tallest fencing?The tallest fencing that you can get with slotted concrete fence posts is 10ft.
This would be made with an 8ft fence panel, 2 x 12in Gravel boards and a 13ft fence post.
3ft of the fence post would need to be dug into the ground.
What colour is fencing?Our wood fence panels come pressure treated in natural (green) or brown.Can I collect?Yes, collection is available, we have a warehouse and showroom in Northfleet In Kent.
