- What type of posts do I need?
With panel fencing there are 3 different types of posts that can be used:
- Slotted concrete fence posts (we recommend)
- Solid wood posts
- Durapost
With feather edge fencing there are 3 different posts that can be used:
- Morticed concrete fence posts (we recommend)
- Solid wood posts (brackets will be needed to be used)
- Morticed wood posts

What’s the best way to keep my fence looking new?Pressure-treated panels already have long-lasting protection. For added care, apply a weather-resistant wood treatment every couple of years and regularly inspect for loose fixings or damage.
Can fencing be painted?Yes it can! Painting treated fencing wood will not only help you achieve your ideal aesthetic but also gives the wood an additional layer of protection, which is always good.
Most treated timber is still “wet” from the treatment and needs time for the chemicals in the wood to settle and dry. You will notice, the wood is heavy and will still feel damp to the touch. If primer or paint is added to it at this point, there is every likelihood that it will be rejected by the water-based chemicals that are still working their way through the wood.
It is important to allow the timber to dry out fully before attempting to add paint or primer. This can be a lengthy process and may even take up to a few weeks depending on where the wood is stored. If there is too much heat and direct sunlight, this can cause the treated timber to warp instead of dry out. Damp conditions can also prolong the drying-out period.
How do I stop my fence posts from leaning over time?Proper installation is key (which we can help you with). For added stability, use post brackets or repair spurs if your ground is prone to movement.
Do I need planning permission for my fence?Fences under 2 metres tall don’t usually require planning permission. It’s always a good idea to check with your local council if unsure. We have set up a link if you need to check.
How do I know how much fencing I need?Measure the length of the area you want to fence and divide it by the width of the panels you’ve chosen. Then, take off some length for any posts going in between them.
How can I make my fence more secure?You could use anti-climb trellis toppers, or even security panels with built-in spikes. Concrete posts and secure fixings can improve stability and stop people from messing with your fence.What happens if my fence crosses the property boundary?Check all the paperwork you have for your house to see where the boundaries are. Following these is essential, as it can lead to disputes later on.
How do I stop my fence panels from rattling in strong winds?Use panel clips or wedges to secure your panels firmly in the posts. Concrete posts and close board panels provide extra stability for areas with strong winds.
How quickly can I get my fencing delivered?We try to deliver most orders within a few days, depending on your location. For exact delivery times, contact our team or check our delivery page.
Can I collect my fencing supplies instead of having them delivered?You can collect it from our depots in Kent or South London. However, as these items will be big and heavy, make sure you have a suitable vehicle to fit them in. Most people choose to have them delivered as it is easier and more affordable.
