- What are the different types of garden Trellis?
Square Trellis
A trellis with squares, this is a cheaper type of trellis panels and come in 1ft to 6ft and is fully pressure treated.
Diamond Trellis
Diamond garden trellis panels are one of the most popular items that we sell come in 1ft to 6ft panels. This type of trellis is used as a fence panel topper and also to grow plants up. The gaps are 45mm
Privacy Trellis
As above but the gaps are 20mm so harder to see through. This type of trellis pane is very popular as garden screening.
Convex Trellis
A fence panel toper that is an arch. This trellis comes in privacy and diamond.
Concave Trellis
As above but the arch goes down instead of up.
How can I use a trellis in my garden?Trellis panels can be used in a wide range of ways. For example:
- You can install them on the top of your fence panel to add height
- You can use them as a fence
- You can use them to cordon off specific areas of your garden and provide privacy, like a patio
- You can use them to hide parts of your garden, for example, a compost bin or wheelie bin
- You can grow plants, flowers, and vegetables on them
Can I paint or stain my trellis?Yes, but not right away. Our trellis panels are pressure treated, which is what gives them their distinctive green shade. We recommend waiting for the pressure treatment to dry out before painting your trellis, which takes between three to four months. Then, when it’s fully dry, you’re ready to paint your trellis to match your fence panels or decking!
Some of our trellis panels are sold with a brown wood stain, making them a great alternative to the more natural-looking trellises.
I want to install a trellis topper on top of my fence. Is there a height limit?As a general rule of thumb, the combined height of a fence and trellis topper in a back garden can be no more than 6 feet 6inches, or two metres. Otherwise, you will need to get planning permission from your local council.
However, the rules can vary from council to council, so it’s worth double-checking with your local planning department to make sure.
Can I grow plants up my trellis?Yes! A sturdy trellis is an excellent support for climbing plants like roses, honeysuckle, and wisteria. Not only does this add a lush pop of greenery to your garden, but it offers additional privacy too.
Bear in mind that the trellis must be big enough for the plant to grow; otherwise you’ll spend a lot of time trimming and pruning. Also make sure your trellis is positioned where there is lots of light and water so your plants can thrive.
Can A trellis panel be cut down?Yes. Anyone with good DIY experience would be able to easily cut the trellis panel down to the required size.
What trellis is best for growing plants?We recommend us diamond or square trellis fro growing plants up.Are your garden trellis panels treated?Yes all our trellis are fully pressure treated
