Yes, but not right away. Our trellis panels are pressure treated, which is what gives them their distinctive green shade. We recommend waiting for the pressure treatment to dry out before painting your trellis, which takes between three to four months. Then, when it’s fully dry, you’re ready to paint your trellis to match your fence panels or decking!
Some of our trellis panels are sold with a brown wood stain, making them a great alternative to the more natural-looking trellises.
As a general rule of thumb, the combined height of a fence and trellis topper in a back garden can be no more than 6 feet 6inches, or two metres. Otherwise, you will need to get planning permission from your local council.
However, the rules can vary from council to council, so it’s worth double-checking with your local planning department to make sure.
Yes! A sturdy trellis is an excellent support for climbing plants like roses, honeysuckle, and wisteria. Not only does this add a lush pop of greenery to your garden, but it offers additional privacy too.
Bear in mind that the trellis must be big enough for the plant to grow; otherwise you’ll spend a lot of time trimming and pruning. Also make sure your trellis is positioned where there is lots of light and water so your plants can thrive.
