- What is an extra wide fence panel?
Here at G&G we can make a heavy duty extra wide fence panel. These are wider than a usual panel.
Starting at 7ft 6in, going up to 9ft 6in.
What sizes extra wide fence panels come in?Our extra wide fence panels come standard in:- 7ft 6in x 6ft and 5ftin
- 8ft 6in x 6ft and 5ftin
- 9ft 6in x 6ft and 5ftin
We can make custom sizes if needed but you would need to call to order.
Do extra wide fence panels fit in standard posts?Yes our extra wide fence panels can be installed with concrete slotted posts or 4x4 wood fence posts. We would recommend using concrete posts as these fence panels are very heavy.Do I need to treat the fence panels?You will not need to treat your fence panels bought from G&G as they are fully pressure treated but if you want to keep them looking fresh we recommend Barrentine Timber Protector to repel water, protect against UV damage and mould. The Barrentine Timber Protector offers good surface protection due to its wax content, but it's really only suitable for use on pre-treated timber.
What colour do the extra wide fence panels come in?Our extra wide fence panels only come in natural green.
Are the fence panels treated?Yes, all our fencing and wood is fully pressure treated.Do I need wood or concrete posts?We would recommend concrete fence posts for extra wide fence panels. Wood is also an option if using uc4 treated posts. This will ensure they will last with ground contact. We only sell uc4 treated posts.Can extra wide fence panels be painted?Yes they can! Painting treated fencing wood will not only help you achieve your ideal aesthetic but also gives the wood an additional layer of protection, which is always good.
Most treated timber is still “wet” from the treatment and needs time for the chemicals in the wood to settle and dry. You will notice, the wood is heavy and will still feel damp to the touch. If primer or paint is added to it at this point, there is every likelihood that it will be rejected by the water-based chemicals that are still working their way through the wood.
It is important to allow the timber to dry out fully before attempting to add paint or primer. This can be a lengthy process and may even take up to a few weeks depending on where the wood is stored. If there is too much heat and direct sunlight, this can cause the treated timber to warp instead of dry out. Damp conditions can also prolong the drying-out period.
Can you make a custom size extra wide fence panel?Yes we can make you a custom size fence panel but you will need to call us for this.What backing rails are used?We use 75mm x 47mm fully pressure treated backing rails.Are they strong?Yes! Our extra wide fence panels are the strongest on the market.
