Even though horizontal lattice top fence panels are built to last, we strongly recommend using gravel boards. It's a way to protect your investment in expensive fence panels and prolong their life.
You could use concrete gravel boards (our recommended option) or timber gravel boards. It all depends on your budget or your garden's appearance.

Not every garden needs 6ft fencing all around. Hertfordshire panels come in different heights, so you can pick what works best.

- What is Hertfordshire Fence Panel?A Hertfordshire fence panel is a strong Horizontal Lattice Trellis Fence Panel that lets sun and wind through with a built in trellis at the top. If you do not want the trellis we also sell them without, they are called Staffordshire fence panels.How wide is a Horizontal Lattice Trellis Fence?
Horizontal Lattice Trellis Fence panels are 1800mm wide. They are smaller than a standard British fence panel so if you are changing your panels you will need fence packers to make them the same size.
What sizes do they come in?Horizontal Lattice Trellis Fence Panel come in 4ft, 5ft and 6ftDo I need to treat the fence panels?You will not need to treat your fence panels bought from G&G as they are fully pressure treated but if you want to keep them looking fresh we recommend Barrentine Timber Protector to repel water, protect against UV damage and mould. The Barrentine Timber Protector offers good surface protection due to its wax content, but it's really only suitable for use on pre-treated timber.
What colour do the Horizontal Lattice Trellis fence panels come in?Our Horizontal Lattice Trellis fence panels come fully pressure treated in natural (green).
Are the fence panels treated?Yes, all our fencing and wood is fully pressure treated.Do I need wood or concrete posts?We would recommend concrete fence posts for Horizontal Lattice Trellis Fence Panel. Wood is also a good option if using uc4 treated posts. This will ensure they will last with ground contact. We only sell uc4 treated posts.Can Horizontal Lattice Trellis Fence Panel fence panels be painted?Yes they can! Painting treated fencing wood will not only help you achieve your ideal aesthetic but also gives the wood an additional layer of protection, which is always good.
Most treated timber is still “wet” from the treatment and needs time for the chemicals in the wood to settle and dry. You will notice, the wood is heavy and will still feel damp to the touch. If primer or paint is added to it at this point, there is every likelihood that it will be rejected by the water-based chemicals that are still working their way through the wood.
It is important to allow the timber to dry out fully before attempting to add paint or primer. This can be a lengthy process and may even take up to a few weeks depending on where the wood is stored. If there is too much heat and direct sunlight, this can cause the treated timber to warp instead of dry out. Damp conditions can also prolong the drying-out period.
