Manufactured from UC4 Scandinavian Redwood (G4-2 grade, 70% FSC Mix), the boards are:
- Kiln-dried for stability (16–20% moisture content at dispatch)
- Precision-sawn to finished thickness (28mm or 45mm)
- Pressure-treated with Tanalith® E after machining to ensure full preservative penetration
- Suitable for Use Class 3 external environments exposed to the weather
- Designed for an expected service life of 15–30 years depending on installation and exposure
- The natural reddish hue and visible grain structure give the fence a warm, premium timber appearance while delivering the durability required for commercial and residential schemes.
The 45mm system is designed for applications where serious noise reduction is required.

- Do I need any special permission to install an acoustic fence?
No. As far as planning permission is concerned, acoustic fences are subject to the same regulations as regular fences.
Remember that if your fence is over two metres high, or over a metre high next to a highway or footpath, you must apply for planning permission regardless of the type of fence you’re installing. If in doubt, we recommend getting in touch with your local council’s planning permission team.
What levels of sound reduction can I expect from an acoustic fence?It depends on where your fence is installed, how high it is, as well as the noise source and how loud it is.
In our experience, you can typically expect a noise reduction of between 10 to 30 decibels.

However, bear in mind that your acoustic fence comes pressure treated, so you will need to wait for the treatment to dry before you paint your fence. This can take between one to three months, depending on the time of year you install it.Do I need to treat the acoustic fence?No all our fencing is fully pressure treated and comes in a natural colour or brown.
What colour do acoustic fencing come in?Our sound barrier fence panels only come in natural green or brown.
What thickness are the panels?Sound Shield Pro® panels are available in two board thickness options to suit different project requirements:- 28mm tongue and groove boards – a lighter, efficient solution ideal for general acoustic and privacy applications.
- 45mm tongue and groove boards – a heavier-duty option incorporating EPDM acoustic seals, tested to deliver up to 28dB sound reduction where higher noise control is required.
