Fence Cost Comparison
This comparison is a rough cost to show that DuraPost might initially cost a bit more upfront, but initial investment means it's worth it. This is based on Durapost Metal posts against traditional concrete posts.
Fence Post Cost Comparison
This comparison is a rough cost to show that DuraPost might initially cost a bit more upfront, but initial investment means it's worth it. This is based on 10 x Durapost Metal posts against traditional concrete posts and wood fence posts
| Post Type | Initial Cost | Future possible Replacements | Total Cost (25 Years |
| Durapost | £238.00 | £0 | £238.00 |
| Concrete Posts | £234.99 | £0 | £234.99 |
| Wood Post | £199.89 | £199.89 | £399.78 |
Concrete and Timber - Lower initial cost, but wooden panels won’t last as long, and the price above is based on the fact that they all need replacing within 25 years. There could also be extra costs for the odd gravel board or post.
DuraPost System - There is a small extra cost upfront, but no maintenance is needed. Lasts the full 25 years without additional spending.
What we want you to think about here is that DuraPost is a long-term investment. If you add gates and other accessories, the price will increase, but again, it should also be cheaper in the long run.
DuraPost Fence Posts
All good fences start with decent posts. Get it wrong, and everything else won’t be right. We stock the full range of DuraPost fence posts, including classic steel posts, U-channels, and corner/gate posts, so you can build whatever fence you need.
DuraPost Classic Fence Posts
These are the classic H-shaped posts, which are the most popular in the range. Unlike wooden posts that soak up moisture or concrete posts that weigh a ton, these posts have added benefits.
These are available in the following sizes:
DuraPost U-Channels
The last panel in your fencing run needs to be secured down, and that's what these U-channels are for. These metal channels are fixed to gate posts, walls or concrete posts to firmly hold the final fence panel.
Like all the other products, they are 100% recyclable and come in various colours and sizes.
DuraPost Composite Gravel Boards
Gravel boards are something we talk about a lot. We know they are not the most exciting part of a fence, but it's one of the most essential parts. They keep your fence off the ground dry and make them last for years.
Without a gravel board, your fence will sit directly on the soil and soak up moisture, which will shorten its life.
The primary type of gravel board we sell is the traditional concrete one (which is brilliant), but the concrete look is not for everyone.
Why Would You Choose DuraPost Gravel Boards?
DuraPost Composite Fence panels
Traditional fence panels look great when they are brand new, but after a few bad winters (and a lack of proper care), you might end up with warped boards, chipped paint and panels that start to wobble a bit more year.
DuraPost fence panels are made from a blend of recycled materials, giving you a modern, stylish fence that lasts for years. There are also plenty of designs to choose from, such as a woodgrain finish, the classic hit-and-miss design, or customisable stackable boards.

How to Install DuraPost
The good news is that DuraPost is easy to install. With the right tools and a bit of planning, you can install a DuraPost fence yourself - and do it properly.
What You’ll Need
Step-by-Step Installation (A Quick Guide)
1. Plan Your Fence
If you don't already have an existing fence in place or are making big changes, then you need to work out where your posts will go. Measure the panel widths and use a piece of string (pulled tight) to keep everything straight.
2. Dig your Post Holes
Make sure these are around 2 feet deep. You may already have holes where an old fence panel was, so make sure these are cleared out. If the grounds are soft, go deeper than 2 feet to be sure.
3. Put the DuraPost Fence Post in Place
Place your DuraPost fence post in the hole and pour in the post concrete mix. As its setting, check it with a spirit level to make sure it's straight.
4. Slot in Your Gravel Boards
After the posts are in, it's time to slot them into the gravel boards along the H-shaped post grooves. Remember to add the galvanised steel rods if you are using them.
5. Install the Fence Panels
Slot them between the posts and secure them with fixings if needed for wooden panels. If you have gone for the VENTO or URBAN composite panels, fix the three horizontal cross rails in place first, then slot the panels into the rails - no screws required.
6. Admire Your Work
Sit back and admire your work. Double-check that everything is straight, then wait for your neighbours to get jealous of your lovely new fence.
Why Choose DuraPost Over Other Fencing Systems?
There are three main options - timber, concrete and metal. Durapost offers a smarter, easier and longer-lasting solution.
It’s not about saying one system is bad (far from it), but if you want a fence that's strong, lightweight, and built to last, DuraPost ticks all the boxes.
The Cost Over Time
Ideally, you don't want to replace your fence every five years. Wooden posts will eventually need treating, painting or replacing. Concrete might last longer, but if one post cracks or shifts, you’re looking at a heavy replacement.
Durapost might cost a little more upfront than timber, but it quickly becomes the most cost-effective option when you spread that cost over 25+ years.

We have covered everything you need to know about fence posts, but there are a few more things you need to know.
The system isn’t designed to be soundproof, but it does pair well with noise-reducing panels. Use solid composite panels or close-boarded wooden fencing for better noise reduction.
We can’t choose the ground it's going on; for some people, that might mean the ground is soft or sandy. If so, we recommend digging deeper and adding a layer of compacted gravel at the base. The concrete has a better chance of staying solid.
As mentioned earlier, they have been tested up to 110mph, but if it's a concern, you could add reinforced rods if you use the PRIMA gravel boards for extra rigidity.
A quick rinse with a hose will do the trick. If you do get a build-up of algae, then a soft brush and soapy water to scrub it down. No harsh chemicals are needed. Avoid using pressure washers on full blast on the metal fence posts, as it might take off the powder-coated finish over time.
The powder coating is tough, but if you get a scratch, touch it with matching metal paint to help keep it protected.
The galvanised steel core and the nano-coating and power coating protect it against rust (even in harsh weather conditions).
Yes, both are fire-resistant. The steel posts are very durable. The fence panels are more fire-resistant than timber but not completely fireproof. They could still melt or warp rather than catch fire like wood.
The system makes it easy to adjust fence heights using stackable gravel boards or custom fence panels. You can stay within legal limits (2m, 6.6ft) while getting the fence you want.
