For most fences you'll need a tape measure, a string line, a spirit level, a saw, a drill driver with the right bits, and a post hole digger or spade. Wear gloves and safety glasses while you work.

Use a masonry drill bit for brick, block and concrete. Match the bit size to the wall plug or concrete screw you're fitting.

A diamond blade on a disc cutter or angle grinder. Wear safety glasses, ear defenders, gloves and a dust mask when cutting.

Run a string line between the end posts, then check each post with a spirit level on two sides before the concrete sets.
