We was asked to install a fence up against a wall in Orpington in Kent that we had previously installed an artificial grass at. One neighbour wanted a 6ft 6in fence but the other neighbour wanted to keep his wall.

We decided the best way to install a fence up against the wall would be to use  feather edge fencing using 4x4 wooden fence posts with wooden gravel board's

When we install feather edge fence we only install 8ft wide bays as this is the max we recommend on a 4x4 wood post's and arris rails. Any size larger than that will sag in a couple of years and look terrible.

arris rails were used to go across the 8ft sections. The next job is to install the feather edge with galvanised nails. We was also asked to install a new gate a rear fence at the same time.

Facts About Orpington

  • Orpington has its own breed of chicken. The Orpington is a breed of chicken named after the town of OrpingtonKent, in south-east England. It was bred for superior egg laying while retaining meat quality.[3]:115 Its large size and soft appearance together with its rich colour and gentle contours give it an attractive appearance, and as such it is grown more often as a show bird rather than a utility breed. Hens often become broody and are good mothers. Although rather heavy, Orpington's are able to fly small distances but rarely do so.
